The Damnwells
The Damnwells play catchy rock songs straight outta Brooklyn, but the sound is more akin to what Brooklyn might feel like if the L-line somehow turned into a long, lonely, heartland highway before screeching to a stop under Bedford Avenue. As the band now includes ex-Whiskeytown drummer Steven Terry, the long, hot, dusty road-ness of this NYC quartet’s music is no shock, and those country roots provide the Damnwells’ recently released fourth album, Air Stereo, with satisfyingly sentimental tracks like “Graceless” and “Louisville.”
